there are a few different ways, but the easiest (for me anyway, lol) is to just put the texture as a new layer ontop of what you want to have the texture, and put the layer on 'Overlay' or 'screen' mode

You don't. All you have to do to get the texture of the picture on what ever you're going to do is just what I said before
